Lowrider Doc Wins “Breaking Barriers Award” Portland Film Festival!

I am honored to receive the Breaking Barriers Award at Portland Film Festival 2021. The award is the perfect accomplishment for my documentary because the story does break down barriers that have long suppressed the true history of Lowriding, Chicano/Mexican-American/Latino experience in America. Moreover, an untold part of American history.

Thank you all for the support!

Short Film: Tatei Niwetzika de East Los

Christmas 2019, in East Los right off Whittier Boulevard there is a Familia that works late into the night 7 days a week selling tacos and tortas to the community. The mother, father and teenage daughter do this to make a living and survive in America. They don’t ask for handouts or beg but with each bola de maize they create life in a hostile world. It is the Spirit of OUR ANCESTORS that bears witness to the world and cries out for equality, dignity and justice.

This was my first time shooting anamorphic and it was a huge learning curve. I used a few vintage lenses Singer 16d, Carl Zeiss Jena 35mm 2.4 and SLR Rangefinder on the BMPCC4k. Huge thank you to John Los Angeles Bombs, and everyone i filmed on the Boulevard.

I hope you enjoy.
